COMMENT: We are experiencing active solar conditions, possibly leading to geomagnetic disturbances. This morning an M2.5 long duration event (LDE) was recorded by GOES. Its start-peak-end times are 08:11-08:37-08:58 UT and it is still decaying. A post-eruptive arcade (PEA) and dimmings near the active region are visible in EIT, and the associated CME appeared at 08:54 UT in LASCO C2. We roughly estimate the CME speed to be higher than 500 km/s. The CME itself seems to erupt to the SW, nevertheless we can expect some geomagnetic disturbance from it within 3 days. The high energy proton fluxes (>10MeV and >30MeV) are enhanced from 9 UT onwards, but didn't reach the proton event threshold. As the active region is turning near the west limb we have set a warning condition for proton events. At present geomagnetic conditions are again quiet, after the active-minor storm interval induced by the transequatorial coronal hole. The solar wind speed is still elevated at 600 km/s, but the IMF intensity remains low around 4nT with a weak and oscillating Bz component.
