HELP! The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently issued a press release announcing a call for public comment on the value of continuing real-time solar wind data, and products derived from such data, provided by the Space Environment Center. If the NASA Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) satellite were to fail, there are no plans to replace it and much of the solar data provided by it will be lost or greatly degraded. The comment period started on April 3 and continues for 45 days through May 18 so comments must be submitted very soon. Public comments will be incorporated into future plans to best meet the needs of the users of the data.
DX.QSL.NET utilizes a great amount of SEC solar data to provide the propagation data presented on this page. Please spend a few minutes to visit the NOAA press release page at http://www.weather.gov/os/space/ and then send an email to solar.wind.comments@noaa.gov letting them know that thousands of us are out here and greatly depend on the solar data provided by NOAA.
Thank you!
