No significant activity is expected on the Sun, except for
some B sub-flares mainly from new active region Catania#15/NOAA0860. As
predicted yesterday, over the last few hours, the Earth has entered a
high speed solar wind stream
originating in an extension of the Southern
polar coronal hole. The wind velocity has now reached 550km/s and the
interplanerary magnetic field got stronger and turbulent, with 5 to 10nT
fluctuations of the Bz component. However, as Bz seems to remain
predominantly positive (Northward), we expect the geomagnetic field to
remain mostly unsettled, with possible active periods occuring mainly
over the next 24 hours.
Thereafter, this moderate activity should
subside.
