New postage rates in Iceland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of January 1, 2010 postage rates increased in Iceland. At the same date the 0-20 grams category was replaced by a new 0-50 grams category.

An envelope containing a QSL card to Europe now costs 165 ISK (1.30 USD); A-grade mail and 140 ISK (1.10 USD); B-grade mail.

To countries outside Europe: 220 ISK (1.72 USD); A-grade mail, delivery takes 1-3 weeks; and 155 ISK (1.21 USD); B-grade mail, delivery takes 3-6 weeks. An IRC now costs 285 ISK (2.23 USD).

The value of 1 USD equals 128 ISK. Consequently, 1 USD is no longer sufficient for TF hams to respond to direct QSL cards.
