VK9 C, L, M, N, W & X deleted from DX equation
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has decided to
discontinue the use of a VK9 callsign suffix letter to denote each of the six
Australian external territories, each a DX entity.

I was of the opinion that if it's not broken why fix it, world wide everyone was happy with the way the VK9 calls were allocated. what hair brained idiot decided to submit to acma that a change was needed, and who on earth in the acma thought it was a good idea to change things anyway.

ES A QUES FROM A G HAM GOING TO VK9X
Allan,
Thanks very much indeed. Having seen various web sites with the data it does look as if
we will be stuck with using VK9/G6AY. I wonder if we could use VK9/G6AY/X?

I will contact the email address you have kindly given.

Maybe it is a hoax?

Very much like our GB prefix. Nobody knows if it's England, Scotland or Wales. Think the "WIA having been taking lessons from the RSGB".
G6AY..

This change will affect the whole world of HAM RADIO 'CAUSE OF THE ACTIONS OF A FEW THOUGHLESS VK HAMS WHO ONLY WANT A UNUSUAL CALL PREFEX!!
es not thinking of the ongoing problems that this will cause..
How did WIA get sucked into this change ?

from QRZ.COM
What a mess! There was nothing wrong with the VK9C, VK9M, VK9N, VK9W, VK9X, VK9Z system! It worked for many years. I sure hope someone can talk some sense into the WIA and ACMA! I guess they are doing the same dumb mistake the FCC did about 20 years ago! What a mess! I sure hope someone wakes up before it is too late!

This change effects everyone around the planet who enjoys working DX. When VK9ABC shows up everyone is going to wonder what country is this? I don't know but I better work it just in case! This will be a log programs worst nightmare.
I sure hope all VK Amateur Radio operators will complain to the WIA!

Good on u WIA !!
Now how do we know where that VK9 station is?
All those vk9? were in a separate DX location for DXCC, now every ham will have to "ASK" EACH VK9 THEY WORK "where the bloody hell are you"..
Just think of the pile up's as some one ASKS hey pal " where the bloody hell are you??
We must be the only silly Country which has buggered the system!!
Thank you WIA, FOR LETTING "acma" stuff up the system by RECOMMEND that the change be done
