It is with deep regret that the members of the Northern Corridor Radio Group Inc. inform you that our respected patron and best mate Neil Penfold VK6NE became a silent key on Tuesday 28th September at 0600 WST. Neil had been fighting cancer for almost 3 years, a condition which annoyed him greatly as it stopped him from climbing towers and doing antenna work and limited his usual host of activities around his beloved radio club. During this time, he still managed to almost complete a radio museum upstairs in the clubrooms and look after all of us including cooking the barbeque every Sunday morning.
Neil has held every office of note within the WIA - both federal and state and many will recall his excellent leadership and tireless devotion to all aspects of Amateur Radio over more than 45 years. He especially enjoyed his QSL management duties.
To say his passing has left a huge hole in our Club and our lives is an understatement. Rest easy, mate - you will always be in our thoughts.
A celebration of Neil's life will be held at the Pinaroo Valley Crematorium on Whitfords Avenue on Saturday 2nd October at 1000 hrs WST. All are welcome.
