Geomagnetic conditions are expected to reach minor storm
levels during the next 36hrs due to the fast stream from a recurrent
coronal hole. During the past rotation Kp=5 was reached for a single
period; however the hole is far more pronounced on the present rotation
than it was in Jan or Feb (no EIT data during the Mar transit) so we
cautiously expected the effects to be at least as pronounced as they
were 27 days ago.
Solar activity is expected to remain active, with further M-class
events expected from NOAA AR 0865 (Catania 19) while 0867 (21) also has
the potential for M-class events. No significant CMEs were observed in
association with either of yesterday's M flares from 0865 or the C9.7
flare from 0867 this morning.
